Marijuana

MARIJUANA / CANNABIS

Changes in marijuana policies across many of states of American and Canada legalising marijuana for medical and/or recreational use suggest that marijuana is gaining greater acceptance in our society. Whether smoking or otherwise consuming marijuana has therapeutic benefits that outweigh its health risks is still an open question that science has not resolved. Many states now permit dispensing marijuana for medicinal purposes and there is mounting anecdotal evidence for the efficacy of marijuana-derived compounds.

Cannabis, marijuana or weed is not legal in the UK. It is classed as a Class B drug, along with the likes of ketamine and amphetamine. According to Drugwise, the penalty for possession of a Class B drug is five years in prison and fine. For intent to supply the punishment is 14 years in prison
