Counselling Services
Shona is a qualified person-centred counsellor employed by S4F. Person- centred means that the counselling experienced is focused on the person, building trust, moving at their pace and providing a safe space for them to talk about things they are finding difficult. Shona is able to offer counselling support to adults who are involved with the service and are struggling to cope with difficult issues. This may include coping with a loved one’s drug or alcohol use, with parenting a grandchild or family member as a result of another’s addiction issues or general day to day stresses and challenges.

FUTURE PATHWAYS
S4F is also a support provider for Future Pathways which is a national organization funded by the Scottish Government for adults who had negative experiences while in care in Scotland when they were under the age of 16. S4F is able to signpost people to Future Pathways and as part of a person’s support plan may be able to offer them counselling. Shona is a trauma informed counsellor. This means that she understands the effect that trauma can have on an individual, no matter how long ago it happened, and can work with survivors in a way that helps them to feel in control and supported with their issues.
